A knitting row counter that holds your place while both hands are busy

Put the needles down for a few days and the first thing to disappear is which row you were on. Here the whole bottom half of the screen is the plus button, so you can press it without looking. Counters that turn together, such as a pattern repeat or a shaping round, move together from one press. No account, no install, and what you enter stays in this browser.

What are you making

You can add counters or change the rules afterwards. This only decides where you start.

  • One number is enough

A scarf or a plain body where you only track total rows. Starts with a single counter.

  • A pattern repeats every few rows

Tracks total rows, the row within the repeat, and how many repeats you have finished. Starts at eight rows and you can change it while counting.

  • Increase or decrease every few rows

Tracks total rows alongside the shaping round. Starts at every six rows and you can change it while counting.

Keeping it safe

Clearing browser storage or changing device wipes what you entered here. Download a file and you can carry on counting on any other device.

How to use it

How to keep several counters at once, how to tie one so it rises with another, how to make a pattern turn over every few rows, and how to keep a project in a file.

How to use it

What this app does not do

It does not sell or host patterns, it does not show you other people's projects, and it never sends a notification. It counts, and it keeps the number safe. That is the whole job.

Voice counting was left out on purpose

Your hands are busy, so counting out loud sounds ideal, and we considered it. The catch is that speech recognition in Chromium browsers sends the microphone audio to the browser vendor's servers to be understood. That runs straight into our promise that nothing you enter leaves the device, so we did not build it. Instead the plus button covers half the screen, large enough to press with the back of a hand or a wrist.

What you enter stays in this browser

Project names, row numbers, and any pattern text you paste never reach our servers. There is no account, so there is nowhere to send them. The trade is that clearing your browser storage or opening the site on another device leaves you with nothing. That is why there is a file to export and import.
